Lesson One: The Basics
I am so excited to be on this adventure with you! My goal is to eliminate any qualms you may have about Foundation Paper Piecing, and show you how easy and efficient it can be! Follow my tutorials to learn the ins and outs of Foundation Paper Piecing! Using my "quick and dirty" method, I'll show you this amazing technique and why you can feel confident in this skill!
We are going to start slow, and work steadily as we advance in difficulty. In the end, you'll have a sampler quilt that you can truly be proud of! In this lesson, we are just making four of these blocks, but NOT joining them. I really want this to be a nice steady process, without anyone feeling rushed or behind.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
I am working with some of my stash. I have a couple charm packs that I've been saving, and I have the matching yardage. This is an incredibly stash-friendly quilt, or you can gather yardage to use. In all, you'll need about 3 yards of fabric for the blocks, in varying colors (or as few as two different colors). You'll need 1 1/2 yards of fabric for the sashing (optional), and 2 yards of fabric for the border (optional).
I am not worried about thread type or color right now; we will cover that later on. I just want you to be able to jump in and get started without sweating the small stuff!
